Generate walkthrough videos

Create professional walkthrough videos from Stitch project screens using Remotion with animated transitions.

The remotion skill turns your Stitch project screens into polished walkthrough videos — complete with cross-fade transitions, spring-animated zoom effects, and text overlays. Useful for demos, stakeholder reviews, or documentation.

Prerequisites

  • A Stitch project with at least 2 designed screens
  • Node.js and npm installed
  • Access to the Stitch MCP server

Retrieve screens

PROMPT
List all screens in Stitch project projects/123456 and download their screenshots.

The skill fetches screen metadata via MCP, downloads full-resolution screenshots to assets/screens/, and creates a screens.json manifest with titles, dimensions, and per-screen durations.

Set up and generate

If no Remotion project exists, the skill creates one. Then configure your transitions:

Fade (default)

Smooth cross-fades between screens. Best for calm, professional presentations.

PROMPT
Use fade transitions between all screens with 15 frames overlap.

Slide

Directional slides for sequential user flows:

PROMPT
Use slide transitions from left to right to show the user journey.

Zoom

Spring-animated zoom effects for emphasizing specific features:

PROMPT
Add a zoom-in effect on the hero section of the home screen before transitioning to the features page.

Mix and match — use fades for most screens and a zoom to highlight a key moment.

Add text overlays

Screen titles

PROMPT
Add the screen title as a bottom overlay on each slide, fading in after 0.5 seconds.

Feature callouts

PROMPT
Add a pulsing circle highlighting the search bar on the navigation screen.

Progress indicator

PROMPT
Add a thin progress bar at the top showing the current position in the walkthrough.

Render the video

Preview first in the browser-based Remotion Studio:

PROMPT
Start the Remotion Studio to preview the walkthrough video.

Then render to file:

PROMPT
Render the walkthrough video as walkthrough.mp4 with H.264 codec.

Quality options

FlagEffect
--quality 100Maximum quality (larger file)
--codec h264Best compatibility
--codec h265Better compression, less compatibility
--concurrency 4Parallel rendering for speed

Adjusting pacing

  • Too fast? Increase per-screen duration in screens.json (default is 3–5 seconds)
  • Too slow? Reduce duration or add more dynamic transitions
  • Uneven? Set longer durations for complex screens, shorter for simple ones
PROMPT
Set the dashboard screen duration to 6 seconds and the login screen to 3 seconds.
